From its first flight on 15 April 1983, aircraft 81-10794, originally known as Article #10, started it service in the USAF shrouded in secrecy. Once
declassified, this historic aircraft participated in three combat theaters,
Operations Desert Shield/Storm, Allied Force and Iraqi Freedom
It completed a total of 73 combat sorties during this time
including leading the initial strike of Operation Iraqi Freedom It was retired from service in October 2007.
The Museum of Aviation at Robins AFB, Georgia acquired the F-117 May 18, 2023.
